PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT LETTER FROM ROBIN
From the Studio of Robin Dallen

January 10th, 2023
Hi! I'm so glad you're here! First, let me tell you a story.
IMAGINE THE SCENE...
Its a Sunday morning, and you're lying all snuggly in your bed.
The sun is just starting to shine outside.
You can hear a chorus of birdsong outside your window.
It lifts your heart and brings a smile to your face.
You head to your kitchen and you make yourself a cup of tea.
(In your favourite mug, obvs.)
You step into your garden and get comfy in your favourite lawn chair.
(With your favourite mug).
In the hedge, the sparrows are calling to each other.
On your bird feeders, the bright colours of blue tits and goldfinches flash as they fly in and out.
A robin is sitting on the fence, singing its little heart out.
And just when you think your heart couldn't feel any more full...
...a blackbird lands two feet away from you.
He looks at you as if to say "aren't you going to feed me?"
You've been feeding that blackbird every morning for years, and now he sees you as his friend.
Day in, day out, your garden birds are there for you.
In a world of change, they are constant.
The joy they bring you is always available to you.
SO WHAT ABOUT FREE PRINTS?
The world is a really tough place right now, isn't it?
When there's so much uncertainty every time you step outside, your home is your haven.
Your home is where you can be reminded that there is so much to be happy about.
So many things that bring joy to your life.
Imagine if day or night, winter or spring, you could experience the joy of seeing a bird, even if there aren't any in your garden right now, or you don't have a garden at all.
I want you to have that.
I want to give you a print of one of my birds, because reminding you that the joy of birds is a constant, even when the world outside is naff, feels like the right thing to do.
In fact, the birds in my own garden are pretty much demanding that I share the experience I have with them with you.
And I don't argue with birds.
So I am giving away a limited number of art prints from my new collection of brightly coloured British garden birds.
These retail for £19 each on my website.
Right here, on this page, you can get one for FREE.
OKAY, BUT WHY?
Full disclosure, giving away my art will help me fulfil my dream of making a living from art.
Giving away my art for free will get my art in front of lots of people!
My hope is that if you love your print, you'll consider buying art from me in the future, or you'll tell your friends about my art.
But even if you do neither, I'm still glad you get to have my art!

The British Garden Birds collection pays homage to the birds I see in my garden every day at my home in South Gloucestershire. When the world outside my door is uncertain and hard to deal with, my garden birds are my constant. No matter what else is going on, they fill my heart with love and remind me that there is always something to be joyful about.
Birds are my haven. My hope is that they bring the same sense of peace and wellness to your home that they bring to mine.
Timid & speedy
Blink and you might miss them - the blue tits flit in and out, picking up a seed and retreating to a safe place. Luckily, we know they’ll be back soon for another one. Their sunny colours remind us of spring, which is very welcome in mid winter when you see a little streak of blue amid all the bare grey trees.
Bold & noisy
We can always tell when there are sparrows about - we might not be able to see them, but the cacophony of noise coming from the ash tree leaves us in no doubt that they’re there! These tiny birds are braver than most, and will come down to the deck with birds several times their size for a shot at a mealworm.
Protective of family
We’ve watched the same pair of blackbirds in our garden for five years. Every day, they perch outside the back door and demand we put out food, especially for them, and every summer, they raise a family and bring their fledglings to the deck to meet us. It’s a privilege to have been adopted by them!
Curious & playful
Robins are for all year round, not just for Christmas. Ours likes to join us when we’re gardening, although his “help” isn’t always very helpful, especially when he’s decided to perch on the lawnmower to show off something tasty that he’s found!
Bright & beautiful
These small and somewhat squeaky sounding birds are always a welcome splash of colour at our feeders. With their bright red faces and yellow wings, you really can’t mistake them for anything else.

ABOUT ROBIN DALLEN
Robin Dallen (pronouns: they/them) spent their early years moving from place to place for their father's work as a pilot. Inspired to take up a career in engineering, they studied and subsequently settled in the South West of England, completing a PhD in Materials Science at the University of Exeter before moving to Bristol to work as a manufacturing engineer.
Despite working in a traditionally logic-centric field, Robin's first love was always being creative, whether that was painting, making jewellery, nail art, or writing fiction.
Following 15-years working as a professional engineer, they decided to pursue a different dream; working as an artist full time. Along with Humpy the Humboldt penguin, they work out of their box-room/studio, aka their "Themshed" in South Gloucestershire.
Taking inspiration from the practice of art journalling and online tutorials about mixed media art, they combine their passion for bold colours and using sustainable materials with a love of birdwatching, a hobby taken up during the pandemic.
Robin's art and prints can be found in hundreds of homes all around the world, and greetings cards featuring their brightly coloured birds are on sale in shops around the South West of England.
